Full STEAM ahead with Fungi!
Fungi4KIDS workshops aim at providing a fun, multisensory & creative introduction to key STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art and Mathematics), concepts through discovering the wonderfully weird, and colourfully cool world of fungi! 

Environmental scientist and educator Heather Elson will share her passion and excitement for fungi with students in a fun and innovative mix of hands-on art, environmental + biological science STEAM activities designed to support learning at Pre-school , Primary and Secondary school levels.

Activities are designed for your individual group and include: Traditional + electronic creative arts projects, science experiments, displays + more!

Duration: 2Hrs

Topics: Biological sciences, Biotechnology, Conservation, Ecology, Microbiology, Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Technology, History & Culture.

About the presenter: Heather Elson has a background in environmental science, information technology, education and the arts. Heather has been working in the public education sector providing art, science and literacy activities for all ages for nearly 10 years as part of state library public programs. Heather is passionate about getting kids (and adults!) excited about science and the environment around them and discovering the world of fungi is a fantastic way to do this! 

Macro Photography for Fungi Lovers
Fast track your macro photography skills with this practical, hands-on workshop. First we'll cover some basic theory, and then you'll get to have some fun applying what you've learnt in a friendly and supportive environment so you feel confident applying your new skills.

Available for individual and group bookings.

Workshop participants will need to bring their own camera/device and a laptop if you wish to stack your own images, however a laptop setup will be shared during the workshop so everyone gets a turn.

Location is negotiable.

$120 per person + group discounts available up to 6 people

Enjoy having your very own environmental scientist and photography mentor by your side as you discover amazing fungi deep in the forests of southen Tasmania!
  • Explore beautiful native forest and regrowth habitat with a knowledgeable guide & photographer to help you get the most out of your forest experience during your visit.

  • Learn about the forest habitat you are visiting and the fungi that inhabit it

  • Learn how to identify fungi

  • Learn how to photograph fungi for environmental surveying or aesthetic purposes

  • Receive a copy of the fantastic Fungi Flip fungi identification guide for each person included with your booking

Available for individual and small group bookings.

Species abundance and diversity will vary with seasons.

Peak season is March - June with a smaller flush between September - November


Single Person - $60 per person per hour (minimum 2 hours)

The fees listed here are for guiding only. Transport to and from the proposed foray destination are not included as we can either  meet at the location or I can accompany you to the location in your vehicle. Travelling in your vehicle helps keep costs down so I don't have to charge additional fees.  If visiting a national park, a Parks Pass will be required. Parks passes may be purchased online or from Service Tasmania, National Parks Visitor Centres Pricing & Buying a Parks Pass information here
